ARTISTS STATEMENT
Art, in my opinion, doesn’t have to be beautiful, or visually pleasing. However, it does have to stimulate some emotion, and thought.
This statement is how I feel about this thing we call art. I look at art often, and often I see a very wonderful, technical piece that after two of three viewings, loses something. This is an issue, for me. Pieces which are technically perfect often don’t say anything, so after a number of viewings you begin to find flaws in the technique, that to me isn’t what art is about. This it seems is rendering, or illustration.
Art needs to comment, it needs to have opinions, it needs to provoke, if nothing else conversation. As someone who is trying to enter this rather cliche-ish world of art, and artists, doing this kind of opinionated work doesn’t make the task any easier.
My main goal in doing art is simply to express an observation, an opinion, and in doing so, stimulate a conversation with the viewer, or between the viewers.
It is only through conversation that any real progress can be made in this world.
